Course Description
This course is intended to provide a basic understanding of the American political system. We will examine the structural foundations of American politics, including our constitutional framework, political culture, and political economy. We will then explore the various political institutions which serve as a link between citizens and government, including public opinion, the mass media, interest groups, social movements, political parties, and elections. Following this, we will turn our attention to the branches of the federal government, including Congress, the Presidency, the federal bureaucracy, and the Supreme Court.
