Course Description
This course will examine the social construction of gender and sexuality and discuss key theories to the study of gender. Macro perspectives of culture and social institutions are also given special attention. Gender does not exist in a vacuum; therefore, gender will be discussed in relation to its intersection with other social identities, such as race, class, sexuality, age, ability, and size. We'll learn about sexuality and how it relates to gender historically and contemporary through feminist and queer theories.(multicultural content)
